“We engage with young people because it makes our art better, contributes to building informed cultural advocates and shares our specific language around dance skills and tools for creativity.”
- Michael Trent, Artistic Director
Dancemakers is committed to engaging youth in contemporary dance practice and dialog. Our initiatives at home and on tour provide fun, physical and creative challenges for young people.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors we are able to offer scholarships to our training programs and subsidized tickets to attend our shows. With your continued support, Dancemakers youth outreach programs will continue to be affordable or free, ensuring that all young people in our community can participate:
- Our Intensive training programs Emerging Dance Artist Project (EDAP) and Youth Dance Artists Project (YDAP) serve young people from age 12 to 25.
- Workshops for high school students, both in the schools and at the Dancemakers Centre for Creation, involve hundreds of dance and non-dance student alike each season.
- Student matinees feature post-show discussions with the performers and creative team.
Please consider making a gift in support of Dancemakers’ youth outreach activities. Your support will ensure that young people who may not otherwise be able to afford to, can access Dancemakers'programs.
