YDAP 2012 – save the date!

Two intensive programs designed for young dancers who wish to investigate fun and new ideas in training, creation & performance in contemporary dance.

YDAP - Stream 2 | July 23 - 27 & July 30 - August 3, 2012

For dance students who are entering grades 10 to 12 in the fall of 2012, this ten day intensive provides an intimate look into Dancemakers' professional world. Here we treat the participants as mature, creative and engaged individuals who are curious about collaboration and what dance can be in the 21st century. The daily schedule follows a typical Dancemakers’ day including morning training with members of the Company’s Artistic Staff and invited guests, Strategies workshops in which we explore different ways of generating choreographic ideas, developing a common creative language and building a dance together. Following lunch, the participants will bring the skills from the morning’s explorations to a new creation led by Dancemakers’ Artistic Director Michael Trent.

YDAP - Stream 1 | August 7 -11, 2012

For dance students entering grades 7 to 9 in the fall of 2012, this five day supervised workshop will introduce the participants to Dancemakers’ creative values in challenging and rewarding ways. The morning will be spent exploring various approaches to dance technique and improvisation with a different artist every day, including Dancemakers’ Artistic Director Michael Trent and YDAP1 AD Kristen Carcone. The afternoon is dedicated to new creation with three invited guest artists.
