researchLAB

Dancemakers' researchLAB offers a rare opportunity for a Canadian choreographer to explore the creative process for a three-week period, without the inherent pressures (time, resources, etc.) of producing a fully completed work.

The choreographer works in Dancemaker' professional and supportive environment under the guidance of the Dancemakers creative team: Artistic Director Michael Trent, Associate Director Bonnie Kim and Dramaturge Jacob Zimmer

The researchLAB remains the only such program available in Toronto. Through this challenging but very rewarding program, Dancemakers is committed to enhancing the skill sets of choreographers who have the passion, the vision and the ability to significantly enrich contemporary dance in Canada.

Choreographers interested in applying to participate in the Lab should send a letter to Michael Trent outlining what s/he would like to explore in movement, music, dance and/or theatre during this three-week process.

The Dancemakers researchLAB was developed and originally run in collaboration with Ottawa's Le Groupe Dance Lab and Peter Boneham.
